£80.00 – £432.00 Buy Opulent and alluring. This Pomerol is very 2019 stylistically with it's suave, juicy and generously textured fruit. It doesn't feel like a second wine, there's nothing thin about this wine. It feels luscious and dense yet approachable and open for business now. The nose kicks off with layers of black cherry, charred vanilla, cocoa, tobacco, spicy oak and blueberry coulis. The tannins feel ripe and there's an exotic element to the wine with fairly low acidity and super juicy fruit. A polished finish hints a cloves and cassis with touches of dark chocolate. Great stuff from DBR Lafite. -

£60.00 – £324.00 Buy This is a big St Emilion with lashings of plump ripe fruit and oak derived spice. Not quite a monster, but certainly a wine fit for a gusty supper rather than a light lunch! Made only in the best vintages this is made solely from Merlot. The nose is fantastic with notes of black cherry compote, toasted vanilla, dark chocolate, black forest gateau and cassis. The palate is generous in every department with oodles of black fruit and soft tannins. This beauty will age for a decade, yet after a couple of hours in a decanter it really shows well. -

£19.50 – £105.30 Buy The vineyard of Paradis Casseuil is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the classic pairing you find in almost all red Bordeaux blends. The Merlot brings juicy red fruit and the Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and body. On the nose there's delicate toasted notes with peppery red cherry and almonds. The palate is elegant and medium bodied with redcurrants, red cherry, cedar and spice. This easily accessible claret is perfect for drinking this year, but will hold in the cellar for a couple of years. Enjoy with roast chicken. -

Reserve Speciale Pauillac 2021, A.C. Pauillac, France
£45.00 – £243.00 Buy DBR Lafite have produced a rich yet precise Pauillac, similar in style to the 1990 vintage. Lafite rarely does exuberance, true to form the aroma needs coaxing from the glass. After a few minutes there's cool blackberry coulis, warm slate, fresh tobacco, cedar, violets and graphite. The palate is compact and concentrated with fine tannins. You can feel the quality, but it is slightly reserved in the mid-palate. Whilst it offers very enjoyable drinking you can't help feel its best days lay ahead. It is very 'Lafite' in style and typical of the vintage. -

Château Odilon 2018, A.C Haut-Médoc, France
£25.00 – £135.00 Buy Classic Merlot on the nose; red cherry, blackberry and plum. Micro-oxygenation occurs in the barrel which enables the wine to reveal an array of mature spices; cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. The dense and rich wine has supple red fruit at its very core. Although this drinks well now after a few hours in a decanter, you can't help thinking it's best years lay ahead.
