£17.95 Buy The vineyard of Paradis Casseuil is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the classic pairing you find in almost all red Bordeaux blends. The Merlot brings juicy red fruit and the Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and body. On the nose there's delicate toasted notes with peppery red cherry and almonds. The palate is elegant and medium bodied with redcurrants, red cherry, cedar and spice. This easily accessible claret is perfect for drinking this year, but will hold in the cellar for a couple of years. Enjoy with roast chicken. -

£12.75 Buy Bright, lively, ruby red colour. Intense, complex nose characterised by fruity notes of cherries, strawberries and plums, harmoniously blended with scents of clove and nutmeg. Medium bodied on the palate with fresh, soft, persistent tannins, combined with a pleasant acidity, producing an easy-to-drink wine, to share on special occasions or enjoy on a daily basis. Despite, in essence, this being the entry-level wine of the property, there's nothing thin or dilute about it. This is an incredibly reliable wine that offers great pleasure at less than £13 a bottle. -

Then underneath there's sweet-edged blueberry, strawberry fruit, tobacco and smoke. It's polished and exotic, and seems to meet all corners of the palate. Ready to drink but will improve. -

£13.95 Buy Produced using Syrah and Tempranillo collected from a 400m vineyard near Gandesa, Terra Alta. This beautifully crafted wine strikes a great balance between rich fruit and smoky spice. The nose is complex and enticing with notes of violets, coffee, strawberry, blackberry and cedar. The palate, whilst being broad and concentrated, is nimble and well balanced. Power and poise. A really great value wine, drink now or cellar for a few years. -

A swirling of the glass will reveal notes of toasted oak, spices and pencil lead delicately woven together. Assertive on the palate, this full-bodied wine shows great persistence and rich flavours. This wine will benefit from further cellaring, yet it shows well after a couple of hours in a decanter. -

Then on the nose there's the warm Mediterranean influence providing garrigue herbs, smoky black fruit, freshly crushed black peppercorns, pine sap and eucalyptus. The palate has bags of black fruits and a spicy smoky finish. There's nothing angular or abrasive at all, the finish is silky and rich with good length and lovely freshness which is typical of the vintage.
