  £17.95 Buy The vineyard of Paradis Casseuil is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the classic pairing you find in almost all red Bordeaux blends. The Merlot brings juicy red fruit and the Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and body. On the nose there's delicate toasted notes with peppery red cherry and almonds. The palate is elegant and medium bodied with redcurrants, red cherry, cedar and spice. This easily accessible claret is perfect for drinking this year, but will hold in the cellar for a couple of years. Enjoy with roast chicken.

  £12.75 Buy Bright, lively, ruby red colour. Intense, complex nose characterised by fruity notes of cherries, strawberries and plums, harmoniously blended with scents of clove and nutmeg. Medium bodied on the palate with fresh, soft, persistent tannins, combined with a pleasant acidity, producing an easy-to-drink wine, to share on special occasions or enjoy on a daily basis. Despite, in essence, this being the entry-level wine of the property, there's nothing thin or dilute about it. This is an incredibly reliable wine that offers great pleasure at less than £13 a bottle.

  £13.95 Buy Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are married with a judicious touch of French oak to deliver a supple claret with juicy fruit and gentle spice. The Légende range focuses on a gentle extraction aiming for a style that offers instant pleasure, so there's little need for extensive decanting or a lengthy cellaring. There's lots of redcurrant and raspberry notes mingled with blackcurrant and mocha on the nose followed by a plump and supple palate.

  £19.95 Buy This vintage exhibits a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, of which 50% is aged in French oak - the rest in stainless steel to retain freshness and purity of fruit. The nose offers an array of black fruit, earthy toasted spice and cedar. There's a freshness and crunch to the palate which will ensure this wine cellars well. However, a quick decant enables the silky plush edge to come through which allows for immediate pleasure.

This wonderful Rioja shows off a seductive nose of dark cherry, tobacco, vanilla, toast and dried flowers. There's a richness to the palate with defined silky tannin and dark chocolate-infused fruit and peppery finish. Drink now or cellar for a decade.

  Macán Rioja 2013, DOCa Rioja

  £69.95 Buy After a couple of hours in the decanter this wonderful wine reveals an incredibly seductive nose. The first swirl hints a new French oak with toast, nutmeg and vanilla. Then underneath there's sweet-edged blueberry, strawberry fruit, tobacco and smoke. It's polished and exotic, and seems to meet all corners of the palate. Ready to drink but will improve.

  Llumí Negre 2016, Celler Alimara, Spain

  £13.95 Buy Produced using Syrah and Tempranillo collected from a 400m vineyard near Gandesa, Terra Alta. This beautifully crafted wine strikes a great balance between rich fruit and smoky spice. The nose is complex and enticing with notes of violets, coffee, strawberry, blackberry and cedar. The palate, whilst being broad and concentrated, is nimble and well balanced. Power and poise. A really great value wine, drink now or cellar for a few years.

  Les Légendes ‘R’ Pauillac, A.C. Pauillac

  £35.00 Buy Deep purple robe with black hints. The nose is complex and layered, the bouquet will further develop with decanting. A swirling of the glass will reveal notes of toasted oak, spices and pencil lead delicately woven together. Assertive on the palate, this full-bodied wine shows great persistence and rich flavours. This wine will benefit from further cellaring, yet it shows well after a couple of hours in a decanter.

The palate feels very self assured with a polished finish. There's a deep juicy core of fruit which is tapered by fine tannins, and a sense of freshness derived from perfectly balanced acidity.

  £27.95 Buy A deep almost opaque ruby in the glass. Then on the nose there's the warm Mediterranean influence providing garrigue herbs, smoky black fruit, freshly crushed black peppercorns, pine sap and eucalyptus. The palate has bags of black fruits and a spicy smoky finish. There's nothing angular or abrasive at all, the finish is silky and rich with good length and lovely freshness which is typical of the vintage.
